St Mary’s Northchurch Church Fete: Saturday 9th July 2022 – we need your help!

Arrangements for our summer fete are well underway and the Fete Committee wanted to update you on how things are going and to ask for your help and support.

This year we will be supporting the following four charities:

  • GO MAD (Go Make A Difference) UK (Claire Hodgson’s charity in the Dominican Republic)

  • Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust – EHAAT

  • St Mary’s Northchurch Church Fund

  • Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal via DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee)

The fete will run from 12 to 4pm and we will have all the old favourites you are used to at the fete, including the Hemel Hempstead Band, the BBQ and the bottle stall to name a few.

We would be grateful for your help collecting items for the fete, and with offers to help on the day. Items we are looking for include:

  • Donations of bottles (all kinds – but in date and full please). Please bring these to the Rectory (leave in the Rectory porch if no one home) or contact us to come and collect them.

  • Tombola prizes/Gifts and Toiletries Stall items – new, good quality items are needed for both the tombola and gift stall. Please leave these in the relevant box in church.

  • Children’s toys – we are looking for good quality and clean unused or second-hand children’s toys, books and games. Please no soft toys this year as we have lots left over from last year that we can use. Please drop off in the box at church.

  • Items for the Nearly New Stall – please put small, good quality, second-hand items in the South Transept in church. If it’s a bigger item, please contact us and we will advise you what to do. Please only donate good quality items – it’s a lot of work to dispose of items that are not suitable to sell. Items will only be accepted up to a week before the fete – no donations at all will be accepted after including on the day.

  • Good quality second-hand books. Please put these in the South Transept in church.

  • Plants and garden items - please bring them along on the day.

  • Cakes – if you think you can help out by providing cakes for either the cake stall or the refreshments stall, please get in touch. We will have new different arrangements for dropping items off/allergen labelling this year due to the need to comply with Natasha’s Law on allergen labelling.

  • Jam Jars – we need clean jam jars for the Brownie Stall. Please only donate jam jars, not pickle jars, as the jars will be filled with sweets and we don’t want them to smell! Please leave in box in the South Transept in church.

  • Offer to help on the day – if you aren’t already involved and can spare some time either the day before to set up or on the day itself to help on a stall, please talk to any of us or email us.

  • Please keep collecting your Woods vouchers and putting them in the box at the back of church – we get a £25 gift voucher for every £100 of receipts.

  • Gazebos – we need as many as possible. Please let us know if you have one you are happy for us to use.

If you can’t drop your items off as requested, or need to get in touch, please email: margit@eu.gameplaneurope.com and we will arrange for one of the team to come to you/get back to you.

Thank you for your help – we can make this a great fete with your help. Please just catch any one of us at church if you want to talk about anything to do with the fete.
