Praying with all our Churches of Berkhamsted and surrounding villages helps us keep our community together. God is always looking after us, even when we forget. Click below to download the latest Prayer Leaflet for May - June 2021.

1 Peter 3:12

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” These words from Peter’s epistle echo Ps 34, reminding us that God watches over us, and sees deep within our souls. He hears the prayers of the righteous and is not blind to our suffering. The image is evocative of the protective gaze of a loving parent, watching over a new-born baby, attentive to their cry.

We are encouraged to cry out to the Lord, secure in the knowledge that “His ears are open to [our] prayers”. After the events of the past year, it is comforting to rest in God’s loving gaze, and find peace for our souls in His presence. Perhaps we might hear Aaron’s blessing in contrast to the avenging Lord who turns His face “against those who do evil.”

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord makes His face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.”
