The Berko Community Facebook group which was set up at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, are inviting everyone to join in their 'Cards of Christmas Hope' initiative. Write an extra card this year to send to someone who may be alone or isolated in the community, or living in sheltered housing or a care home in the area. Due to the lockdown restrictions, St Mary’s Church has had to cancel the planned Remembrance Service this Sunday 8 November. Instead, we can commemorate the day by painting a stone/rock with a poppy or other Remembrance design which can then be placed around the war memorial on Sunday. Acrylic paints or paint pens work best. If the stone is dark, you could prime with a white paint first. To help protect the stone from the elements you could coat with varnish, Mod Podge Outdoo
